Mandatory Entry-Level Training for Class 1 MELT driver’s licences
Effective March 1, 2019, standardized, entry-level training is mandatory for all new Class 1 MELT and 2 commercial drivers.

The previous Government standard of “Challenge the Examination” ends Feb 28 so We are ready for March 1 to start our Class One Tractor Trailer Driver training compliant with Alberta Government Standards. March 1, 2019 marks the start of a new standard. the Class One Tractor Trailer Driver Candidate will have to participate in a 121.5 hour program, including a 6.5 hour Air Brake lecture. Training includes a government-mandated number of training hours in-class, in-yard and in-vehicle.
The benefit of the longer term training gives the driver candidate so much more exposure to information about the truck and trucking with 40 hours of classroom time. Plus almost 75 hours supervised education in and around the truck and trailer to increase the skills of the new driver.
